Every line on the court
The baselines run across each end and the sidelines run the length. A line 7 feet from the net on each side marks the non-volley zone. The centerline splits each side from the baseline to the kitchen line into two service areas, each 10 feet wide and 15 feet deep. Lines are part of the area they mark.
Outdoors, USA Pickleball recommends running courts north to south so players are not staring into a low sun.
How much space a court needs
The 20 by 44 lines are the minimum, not the room you need. Players run past the baseline and the sidelines, so builders plan an apron around each court. A common planning size is 30 by 60 feet, about 1,800 square feet, and roomier courts use more. The calculator above shows how many whole courts fit at the footprint you pick.
